Azul Santamarina (b. 1990) is an Argentinean artist based in California. She received her Bachelor of Fine Art in 2013 from the Universidad del Museo Social Argentino (UMSA), where she studied painting and art history. She then moved to Bilbao, Spain, where she completed a Masters in painting at the Universidad del Pais Vasco (UPV). Her work draws from personal experiences and impressions in her life through an abstract lens. Azul's colorful paintings feature layered washes and a variety of textures, creating movement and emotion. She processes through her artwork, experimenting with ways to give shape and colors to specific personal moments in time, to provide and inhabit a clearer understanding of the self.
